Project
Tibetan Bon
Objective
Provide secondary and university-level education, plus health care to Tibetan Bon children.
Challenge
The Bon are a Tibetan minority ethnic group who were forced to flee Tibet in 1959, eventually establishing a community on donated land in Dolanji, India in 1968. Today, this community has a health center, farm, orphanage, children's hostel, and school, which attracts Bon children from Tibet, Nepal, and other parts of India, and provides a safe and nurturing educational environment. No child is turned away, even orphans or those from poor families. Since the community has limited resources, they must rely on outside donations to house and educate these children.
Approach
Sakena Fund provides scholarships to house and educate the Bon community's children.
