Supporting Afghan Private Enterprises
Overview
A thriving private sector is part of a self-sustaining society and economy for Afghanistan. Dr. Yacoobi has developed a program building private enterprises in Afghanistan in the education, health and media sectors.
The Sakena Fund helps by providing support for programs and technical assistance to Dr. Yacoobi's four self-sufficient private schools, as well as scholarships for poor students. We provide programming and administrative assistance to TV Meraj and Radio Meraj as well as financial support as they move to self-sufficiency. Previously, Dr. Yacoobi founded a hospital in Herat which is now independent and serves 2,000 patients a month.
